Red Sift becomes the recommended certificate monitoring service of Let’s Encrypt

We’re thrilled to announce that Red Sift Certificates Lite has become the official recommended certificate expiration monitoring service of Let’s Encrypt, the world’s most widely used Certificate Authority.

Red Sift Certificates Lite is a free service that allows users to track up to 250 certificates with email notifications 7 days ahead of expiry. It helps IT teams and website owners avoid certificate related downtime, outages, and security incidents.

A shared mission to secure the internet

For over a decade, Let’s Encrypt has empowered millions of organizations to secure their websites by providing free, trusted SSL/TLS certificates. In doing so, it has transformed the accessibility of secure web communication.

At Red Sift, we share this commitment to creating a fundamentally safer internet. Our mission is to build solutions that solve real problems and make them accessible to everyone, regardless of size or resources.

As Let’s Encrypt retires its email expiry notifications, Red Sift Certificates Lite steps in as the recommended solution for free, proactive certificate monitoring. We’re providing website owners with the tools they need to prevent disruptions and maintain trust online.

Josh Aas, Executive Director of Let’s Encrypt said: “Millions of users rely on Let’s Encrypt to secure their websites. Certificates Lite, the new service from Red Sift, gives users the tools to monitor their certificates effectively and avoid disruptions.”

What Certificates Lite offers

In 2022, we acquired Hardenize, a leader in web and network infrastructure analysis founded by Ivan Ristić, Creator of SSL Labs and Chief Scientist at Red Sift. This acquisition enabled us to help organizations achieve full visibility into their public-facing assets. By integrating Hardenize’s deep expertise with the Red Sift cybersecurity platform, we’ve developed tools that empower businesses to identify vulnerabilities, achieve compliance with critical security protocols, and strengthen their attack surfaces.

Building on this foundation, we introduced Red Sift Certificates, our enterprise-grade certificate discovery and monitoring solution. Trusted by some of the largest and most sophisticated organizations in the world, it enables them to manage their complex certificate ecosystems with confidence.

At the same time, we believe that safeguarding the internet should not be a privilege reserved for large enterprises. Certificates Lite is our way of making critical SSL/TLS certificate monitoring accessible to everyone, regardless of size or resources. It simplifies the essential task of staying ahead of certificate expirations, empowering businesses to avoid costly disruptions and protect their online presence.

With Certificates Lite, we provide:

  • Discovery and monitoring of all certificates across your domains and subdomains.
  • 7-day email alerts ahead of expiry, giving you time to renew.
  • A centralized dashboard to manage up to 250 certificates.

In addition, Certificates Lite is completely free—no credit card required—and designed to be easy to use, regardless of your technical level.

A free certificate expiration monitoring tool for everyone

While Certificates Lite addresses the immediate needs of Let’s Encrypt users, this new service is built for anyone managing SSL/TLS certificates. Whether you’re an IT administrator overseeing a complex infrastructure or a small business owner managing a single website, Certificates Lite replaces cumbersome manual tracking methods—like spreadsheets or DIY PowerShell scripts—with a simple, reliable SaaS monitoring solution.
