2020 Red Sift customer achievements

It’s fair to say that 2020 was a strange year for most of us with the transfer to remote working over the summer, homeschooling children before the workday began (or bouncing babies on our laps during conference calls), whilst suddenly taking an interest in some form of daily outdoor exercise because it’s the only form of entertainment outside of our homes…

For a more positive reflection of 2020 there were some very fun creative virtual Christmas parties last month to wrap up the year (at least ours was!) and we were humbled by the development, growth, and success each department played a part in against the odds across for our email security suite to continue to protect critical business email communications for new and existing customers during uncertain times.

To celebrate our customer’s achievements in 2020 we’ve put together a medley…

About the company

At Athletic Greens their purpose is to inspire fulfilling lives, starting with a focus on health with powder-based health supplements. The company’s core value is people first and they embraced remote working long before Covid-19 forced other organizations to consider it. With over 60 employees around the world, it’s essential that everyone using email can spot phishing.

Organization challenge

Even with Google’s Advanced Phishing Protection in place and a foundational Secure Email Gateway, Athletic Greens were still seeing phishing attacks get through. With a remote workforce, Digital Operations needed to ensure all staff had supportive user-facing email security to alert anyone to risky emails.

Technology solution

Athletic Greens were looking for a solution that would address the phishing attacks still bypassing their SEG and not being picked up by their email client’s phishing protection.

We couldn’t just rely on Google’s phishing protection alone as the email content itself is not captured, but with OnINBOX we’ve added advanced contextual scanning to remove the burden from end-users.

Jonathan Cupples, Digital Operations Manager

Organization results

Advanced content scanning – Modern social engineering techniques used in Business Email Compromise were missed by Google’s Phishing Protection, but are now detected and labeled by OnINBOX for end-users.

No training necessary – OnINBOX gets new users up and running quickly with it’s easy to understand traffic light system alerting them to risky emails.

Supply chain protection – Quickly identified partners that did not have sufficient email security hygiene thanks to OnINBOX Manager’s company-wide overview of their communications network.

About the company

Pipedrive is a software company that develops a CRM platform for sales teams. It helps sales professionals to generate and qualify leads, automate sales processes, close deals faster and easier, and nurture customer relationships. With offices all across Europe and the US and more than 95,000 customers on every continent, Infosecurity is of the utmost importance to this agile tech company.

Organization challenge

Pipedrive implemented DMARC to protect against spoofing but Infosec has always been a priority area for Pipedrive where no compromises are made. In order to better protect Pipedrive against email spoofing and phishing, the company’s Infosec team began the process of getting DMARC in place.

Technology solution

Pipedrive were looking for a solution that could get them to DMARC compliance without the internal expertise.

OnDMARC’s great reporting functionality and the excellent Customer Support Team really helped us understand DMARC, how it works, and everything we needed to do in order to implement it.

Martin Leppik, Cyber Security Analyst at Pipedrive

Organization results

Powerful reporting tools – In only the first month of use, over 1,500 fraudulent senders were identified and blocked by OnDMARC.

Rapid progress – Dedicated Customer Support and an extensive collection of 500+ knowledge base articles enabled them to reach full DMARC compliance in just 6 weeks.

Unlimited lookups – OnDMARC’s unique Dynamic SPF feature automatically updated their SPF records and combined their 18 sending services into a single include.

About the company

Cambium Networks is a world-class broadband provider and enterprise Wi-Fi solution specialist with 25 different entities serving customers from over 150 countries. As a global organization, Cambium Networks sends over 6 million emails per month.

Organization challenge

SPF management required repetitive manual updates for Cambium Network’s IT team which proved to be a time-consuming effort for the set-up of every new provider.

Technology solution

Hamish Gough, IT lead at the time, remembers how “some of the manual setups were inconsistent and wouldn’t even check if SPF was working. They wouldn’t let us continue with setup unless they could find the actual text in the SPF record which then caused delays”. As a result, they required a solution that would simplify and ideally automate ongoing management and configurations for SPF to save the team time.

Organization results

No SPF lookup limit – Once over 10 lookups, Cambium Networks experienced email deliverability issues. OnDMARC gave them the ability to have unlimited services that are easy to manage.

Consistent SPF pass rate – Once OnDMARC was implemented, Cambium Networks were able to achieve a SPF pass rate of 99.95%.

Quarantine to reject –  After being in quarantine for over a year, the team invested in OnDMARC to transition to p=reject confidently without the worry of blocking any legitimate email.

Shutting down spoofs –  2000 monthly spoofs from over 200 different senders, all blocked thanks to OnDMARC getting them to reject.

About the company

ITV is successfully navigating the changing landscape of television through creating and distributing high-quality content via the largest family of commercial channels in the UK and on-demand via its ITV Hub.

Organization challenge

As a modern broadcaster, ITV have gradually increased their digital presence over the past decade to the point where it now has multiple points of email interaction with viewers, sending over 15 million emails in just 90 days, for example. This meant ITV needed to have robust email authentication security in place so not just viewers but employees too, could rest assured that when an email said it came from ITV, it truly did.

Technology solution

When Business Analyst Grant Currie set out to tackle ITV’s DMARC project with OnDMARC, the hardest part was knowing where to start with the estimated 800 and 1,000 subdomains. OnDMARC’s Open API enabled ITV to integrate new insight into existing business systems for immediate prioritization of 200 of these 1000+ domains with the most email traffic flow before configuring 1,018 domains to full reject DMARC status.

Organization results

Increased email deliverability in just 90 days, ITV achieved an average email deliverability rate of 95% of the 15 million emails they sent.

Unlimited lookups – OnDMARC’s unique Dynamic SPF feature allowed ITV to automatically update their SPF record and combine their multiple third party sending services into a single include statement.

Supply chain protectionOnDMARC’s Investigate feature Any partners who did not have sufficient email security hygiene were quickly identified using the Investigate feature.

These quotes and figures are just a snapshot of how OnDMARC and OnINBOX close the net on the phishing problem for a multitude of clients in many different sectors around the globe.
